The + symbol is traditionally used in photography to mark the centre of a cameras viewfinder to assist with composition. We’ve chosen to include this familiar, balanced icon as a part of the identity to reinforce an association with the industry. The + also brings a feeling of positivity and confidence to the brand, whilst promoting a professional message to the consumer.
The Matthew Brown identity uses black and metallic silver to create a strong visual impact and contrast. The focus is on a simple type based mark, it is uncluttered, easy to absorb and recognisable at a glance. The classic and sophisticated identity is given room to breathe and is complimented by the + symbol where appropriate. Designed to stand alone and against photographic imagery this simple, yet effective mark is the basis of the brands personality.
